Description
This one-of-a-kind hanbel is a Moroccan flatweave with no pile anywhere on the piece. Selected for texture, scale, and exact-piece character, with final color confirmed by video before payment is captured.
Materials
Wool from Central Plains, Morocco.
Construction
Handwoven as a zemmour rug. Dimensions: 142 × 70 cm (approx. 4'8" × 2'4"). Weight: 3.0 kg.
Condition
Flatwoven throughout with no pile. All thirteen patterned bands run unbroken across the full width. Both end fringes are present, and there are no thin or open areas in the red ground. Loose ivory and ochre thread ends are visible across several bands, and one fringe shows loose warp ends.
Provenance
Attributed from the object rather than accompanying paperwork. The banded construction on a plain red ground, ivory geometry and narrow runner proportions match three pieces from the Khémisset area whose origins were recorded on their acquisition tags. Care
Shake out or vacuum using low suction with the beater bar switched off. Spot-clean with cold water and mild soap, and use professional cleaning for a full wash. Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight. For wall display, use a sleeve or rod rather than clips and turn the piece once a year.
