Description
A handwoven wool flatweave from Khémisset, in Morocco’s Zemmour region — 5'1" × 2'11" (155 × 90 cm), 6.0 lbs. Selected for texture, scale, and exact-piece character, with final color confirmed by video before payment is captured.

Construction
Handwoven as a flatweave. Dimensions: 155 × 90 cm (approx. 5'1" × 2'11"). Weight: 2.7 kg.
Condition
Recent piece. No wear, no fading, colour even and at full strength across the whole field. Reverse: loose weft ends across the back where the motifs terminate — original to the construction, not damage. Edges: side selvedges finish in a thick wrapped saffron cord, intact down both sides. Fringe: white cotton at the lower end, complete and clean. Handle: this is a flatweave — thin, light and foldable, not a cushioned pile rug.
Provenance
Sourced as a Khemisset piece. Khemisset is the seat of Khémisset Province, which corresponds to the historical territory of the Zemmour confederation and whose cultural identity is documented as strongly associated with the Zemmour tribes — so the Zemmour attribution here rests on recorded geography, not on the rug's appearance. The construction is consistent with the flatweave work of the area: a plain-weave wool ground carrying supplementary-weft patterning. The piece is deliberately not described as a classic Zemmour pile rug, which is a different object from the same tradition. Care
Shake it out, or vacuum on low suction with the rotating brush off — no beater bar over the raised motifs, and never vacuum the back. Don't pull the loose ends on the reverse; snipping flush is safer than tugging. Spot-clean with cold water and mild soap, blotting rather than rubbing, and test a corner first. Professional wool cleaning for a full wash. Store rolled, not folded. Keep out of prolonged direct sun — a single strong colour shows uneven fading more than a mixed field would.
