Description
This one-of-a-kind hanbel comes from Khemisset, on the central plains east of Rabat. Selected for texture, scale, and exact-piece character, with final color confirmed by video before payment is captured.
Materials
Wool from Khemisset, Morocco.
Construction
Handwoven as a zemmour rug. Dimensions: 150 × 74 cm (approx. 4'11" × 2'5"). Weight: 2.7 kg.
Condition
Sound throughout, with no holes, thin areas, stains or repairs. The weave is tight and even from end to end, with no distortion. The selvedges are firm along both long edges, and red fringe is present at one end.
Provenance
The piece was bought and recorded as Khemisset at acquisition, and the acquisition tag identifies it as Khemisset. The town lies on the central plains between Rabat and Meknès, at the centre of the documented Zemmour weaving zone. Its deep red ground, bold ivory geometry and strong contrast are consistent with the region’s recorded colour tradition. The piece is listed as attributed because the individual weaver is not named. Care
