Description
This one-of-a-kind Moroccan hanbel is a densely woven flatweave measuring 4'6" × 2'6" and weighing 7.7 lbs. Selected for texture, scale, and exact-piece character, with final color confirmed by video before payment is captured.
Materials
Wool from Central Plains, Morocco.
Construction
Handwoven as a flatweave (hanbel) rug. Dimensions: 137 × 76 cm (approx. 4'6" × 2'6"). Weight: 3.5 kg.
Condition
Flatwoven construction throughout with no pile. The band structure remains unbroken across the full width, both ochre edge lines run the full length, and the end bands and red fringe are present.
Provenance
Attributed from the object rather than accompanying paperwork. Its banded construction, plain red ground, ivory geometry and narrow proportions closely match three documented pieces from the Khémisset area in my collection. Care
Shake out or vacuum using low suction with the beater bar switched off. Spot-clean with cold water and mild soap, and use professional cleaning for a full wash. Keep away from prolonged direct sunlight. For wall display, use a sleeve or rod rather than clips, and take the piece down and rotate it once a year.
